Good news about news! The users who subscribe to this site will get a 2-weeks heads up. From now on, the news feed send notices of articles on the site 2 weeks in the future.
You may have noticed the subscription facilities at the bottom-right corner of our pages. Whether you use a feed reader or subscribe via email, this service allows you to receive notification when something changes on this site, without needing to actually opening your browser to come here.
In the past, this subscription would send references to new articles with dates no later than today. This is fine for “normal” articles, but it wasn’t so friendly for Events articles — it would be nice to be told about events before they happen!
This is now changed. Now the RSS and ATOM feeds, as well as the Feedburner emails, will send references to articles between 10 days in the past to 14 days into the future. It might make for bulkier notices, but at least they’ll be thorough.
Please let us know whether this takes care of late event notices and/or whether it breaks anything else.
Thanks.
